Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Matt Schaub

Had a solid outing last week, but it's hard to throw when you're on your back.

RB

Ahman Green

Good average last week, but that was against KC. Still sharing carried with Dayne.

RB

Ron Dayne

Might play the role of vulture at the goalline.

WR

Andre Johnson

Expect another big day against a questionable secondary.

WR

Kevin Walter

Not a viable option this week, for you or the Texans.

WR

Jacoby Jones

Rookie is capable of the big play, just not many thrown his way.

TE

Owen Daniels

Decent red zone target and not much else.

DEF/ST

Texans

Fast young defense could get some turnovers.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Jake Delhomme

Looked good in the opener, but Houston should provide more of a challenge than St. Louis last week.

RB

DeShaun Foster

Carries split 50-50 with Williams, and that won't change much this week.

RB

DeAngelo Williams

See above.

WR

Steve Smith

Connection with Delhomme is as good as ever, start him every week.

WR

Keary Colbert

Only 1 catch last week. Drew Carter may be pushing for the #2 role.

WR

Drew Carter

Should have a similar game as last week (3 catches, 19 yards), minus the TDs.

TE

Jeff King

Not a bad showing for King in Week 1. 5 catches was a surprise.

DEF/ST

Panthers

Green secondary might see a lot of Smith's back on Sunday.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Carson Palmer

Should flourish against Cleveland's non-existant pass D.

RB

Rudi Johnson

Expect big things from Rudy especially when the Bengals will be running the clock out in the third quarter.

WR

Chad Johnson

His stats this week should be much better than his TD celebration on Monday night.

WR

TJ Houshmanzadeh

No reason he shouldn't get 100 yards and a TD against the Browns.

TE

Reggie Kelly

Odd man out on a stacked offense.

DEF/ST

Bengals

Bengals D outplayed the Ravens last week, their mouth should be watering to take a shot at Cleveland's sacrificial QB.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Charlie Frye

Keeping the spot warm until Brady Quinn is thrown into the fire.

RB

Jamal Lewis

Another tough day for Lewis. Don't start him unless physically threatened to do so.

WR

Braylon Edwards

Could get some yardage playing from behind, but until the QB situation is settled keep your expectations low.

WR

Joe Jurevicius

If you're desparate enough to start Joe, well, better luck next year.

TE

Kellen Winslow, Jr

Talented TE will see a good number of check-offs delivered his way.

DEF/ST

Browns

Pittsburgh imposed their will on this unit, no reason the ultra-talented Bengals shouldn't do the same.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Joey Harrington

There's a reason he's been passed around like a hot potato in the NFL lately. Interceptions.

RB

Jerrious Norwood

Should get more than the 5 carries he got in Week 1. Not a great option, but use him if you have to.

RB

Warrick Dunn

Good outlet for Harrington aginst a swarming D. He might get some decent yardage, but you should never count on a TD from him.

WR

Michael Jenkins

Got a few looks in Week 1, but Crumpler and Dunn will continue to get the bulk of the passes directed their way.

WR

Roddy White

See above.

WR

Joe Horn

Tough matchup, and Falcons aren't going to set the world on fire with their passing game.

TE

Alge Crumpler

#1 target for Harrington, he'll get his yardage and have a chance to grab a TD.

DEF/ST

Falcons

Not as bad as last week's score looked since 2 TDs were scored by Minnesota's D, but Harrington could put them in some short field situations.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

David Garrard

Decent effort last week. Always a possibility for a rushing TD.

RB

Maurice Jones-Drew

He should bounce back and earn that early round draft pick you spent on him as Atlanta's D-line can be pushed around.

RB

Fred Taylor

Option 1B at RB for the Jags. He won't get stonewalled against a D-line missing Rod Coleman.

WR

Dennis Northcut

Led the team's receivers, might be an ok start in deeper leagues once he develops a bit with Garrard, but Jacksonville's passing game is a crapshoot at best.

WR

Ernest Wilford

Hasn't shown much of anything, avoid this Jags receiver for now.

WR

Matt Jones

See above.

TE

Mercedes Lewis

Could get some yardage and a couple of red zone looks. Might be his year to break out.

DEF/ST

Jaguars

Gave up 282 rushing yards last week, and all Atlanta can ever seem to do right is run, so questionable play until that D-line is completely healthy.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Brett Favre

Won't put up Romo-like numbers, but should be good for 300 yards and at least 2 TDs.

RB

Vernand Morency

Still questionable with knee injury. Looks likes the #1 option for GB once he's healthy.

RB

Brandon Jackson

O-line didn't help his cause last week. Good matchup, but still very much an unknown factor.

WR

Donald Driver

Seemingly the only receiver Favre looked at last week. He'll feast on a terrible secondary.

WR

Greg Jennings

Not over his preseason hamstring injury yet, but looks like he'll start. What self-respecting WR wouldn't want to play the Giants after last week?

WR

James Jones

Favre targeted him often last week, but had some bad throws. If Jennings is still dinged, consider him for your WR3 or Flex spot.

TE

Donald Lee

With Bubba Franks and Lee splitting time at TE, production for GB's TEs will be spotty all year.

DEF/ST

Packers

Stifled McNabb and co. last week, and All-Pro CBs Woodson and Harris won't give up the pass as easily as the Cowboys did. They should dominate.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Eli Manning

G-men going to Belichickian levels of secrecy concerning Eli's shoulder injury. Either way, there's no reason to start him this week.

QB

Jared Lorenzen

The Pillsbury doughboy will have his hands full in (possibly) his first start against an aggressive Packers D.

RB

Brandon Jacobs

Not a good matchup this week, especially if Manning is out. Packers D contained Westbrook, and Ward is no Westbrook.

WR

Plaxico Burress

He's the best receiving option for the Giants, but don't expect an encorre of last week's performance.

WR

Amani Toomer

Chris Berman nicknames or not, Toomer might disappear in this one.

TE

Jeremy Shockey

Best bet offensively for the Giants no matter which QB is playing.

DEF/ST

Giants

Even if Favre throws 3 picks in this one, they could still find a way to get you negative points this week.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

JP Losman

He'll have a lot of trouble with the pass rush this week too.

RB

Marshawn Lynch

He shouldn't get shut down but he'll have a hard time finding holes against this defense.

WR

Lee Evans

He's the leading receiver for the Bills, so he should be the receipient of the few passes Losman actually completes.

WR

Roscoe Parrish

He is a big time return man, if your league awards points to the returner, he is a must-play.

TE

Robery Royal

Do you really have to ask?

DEF/ST

Bills

This game should be a defensive struggle

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Ben Roethlisberger

He should manage at least one touchdown and 230 yards, which figures out to about 3 $'s.

RB

Willie Parker

Travis Henry ran for over a hundred yards, Willie should too.

WR

Hines Ward

If Ben throws a TD this is most likely the guy to catch it.

WR

Santonio Holmes

If Ben completes a pass for over 20 yards, this is most likely the guy to catch it.

TE

Heath Miller

He caught a tocuhdown against the Browns, and seems to becoming more and more a part of the passing game.

DEF/ST

Steelers

They should win the game and keep the Bills from scoring more than 2 touchdowns

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Alex Smith

He should rebound well against a very bad St. Louis defensive unit.

RB

Frank Gore

If the San Fran offensive line plays night and day better than last week he should do well.

WR

Darrell Jackson

He hasn't given anybody a reason to believe he's a definite fantasy start yet.

WR

Arnaz Battle

Looks like he's vying to become Alex Smith's favorite target.

TE

Vernon Davis

He HAS to do better than 2 catches for 4 yards this week.

DEF/ST

49ers

They should bottle the Rams up and keep Bulger uncomfortable all game.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Marc Bulger

He may not do well against the revamped and young San Fran defense.

RB

Steven Jackson

See Marc Bulger.

WR

Torry Holt

He looked like he wasn't even injured last week. He will have a tough test against the SF corners.

WR

Isaac Bruce

I don't expect much from him this game, maybe a few catches.

WR

Dante Hall

If I don't expect Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce to do well, I don't look for this guy to do well either.

TE

Randy McMichael

2 catches for 24 yards last week. He's playing a better defense this week.

DEF/ST

Rams

Stay away from them this week.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Drew Brees

NFC south conference rivalry? Check. Need for redemption after being embarassed last week? Check.

RB

Reggie Bush

See above

RB

Deuce McAllister

He should make the most of his split carries and get a goal line touchdown to ice the game.

WR

Marques Colston

Neither starting corner for Tampa can hold him. Not to mention one of the starters may be out

WR

Devery Henderson

If the Bucs use too many resources to stop Colston, he'll make them pay.

TE

Eric Johnson

He was a pleasant surprise last week in the midst of a debacle. He should feed off that this week.

DEF/ST

Saints

They have a lot to prove this week as well, and this is a good team to get their confidence up against. They should keep Garcia running all game.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Jeff Garcia

If the Saints defense hasn't improved from last weeks sleeper, he could have a great game.

RB

Carnell Williams

He may be out with a rib injury. Keep an eye on this.

RB

Michael Pittman

Not a great back but he may fill in for Williams this week.

WR

Joey Galloway

If Garcia gets time to throw, this is who he's throwing it to.

WR

Ike Hilliard

He is good for 4 catches and 40-50 yards on a good day.

WR

Maurice Stovall

Stovall has not stepped up yet

TE

Alex Smith

His production so far has been inconsistent at best, find a better option.

DEF/ST

Buccaneers

They will have a rough go at it this week, I'd look elsewhere for a defense.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Peyton Manning

He looks like a man possessed, and although he struggled against this team last year, he won't this year.

RB

Joseph Addai

He should have another big game against a defense that didn't have much of a challenge last week.

WR

Marvin Harrison

He is going to have fun running by another secondary this week.

WR

Reggie Wayne

The Titans defense is going to have to pick their poison.

WR

Anthony Gonzalez

He should be more than visible this week.

TE

Dallas Clark

Anthony Gonzalez hasn't emerged yet.

DEF/ST

Colts

They will have to do as well as they did last week to stop the rushing attack that killed Jacksonville last week. Vince Young has been known to give them fits too.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Vince Young

He loves a challenge, and they rarely get bigger than this.

RB

LenDale White

He may be the weapon of choice early to soften the defense up.

RB

Chris Brown

Which Indy defense will show up this week?

WR

Brandon Jones

I'm not expecting a fantasy start worthy performance

WR

David Givens

Not alot of value expected from David

TE

Ben Troupe

Mild expectations for Troupe. Scaife is taking away some receptions from him.

DEF/ST

Titans

They bottled up Jacksonville, but they most likely won't stop Indy.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Matt Hasselbeck

Cardinals poor pass D should create a good matchup for Hasselbeck

RB

Shaun Alexander

Looked sharp in week 1, expect more again this week

WR

Deion Branch

Should be good for 70+ and a endzone strike

WR

Nate Burleson

Stepping into the lineup for the injured Hackett

WR

DJ Hackett

Out with injury

TE

Marcus Pollard

Looked to have some nice chemistry with Hasselbeck

DEF/ST

Seahawks

An underrated squad, they'll have their hands full this week with the Cardinals trying to open up the Offense

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Matt Leinart

Last week he had to deal with swirling winds, he should be better in week 2

RB

Edgerrin James

Had a nice game last week and should keep it going

WR

Larry Fitzgerald

Should matchup well against an undermanned Seattle secondary

WR

Anquan Boldin

His physical style of play should equate to at least 80 yards and a TD

TE

Leonard Pope

You would have the same stats if you chose the actual Pope Bennedict

DEF/ST

Cardinals

Last week was deceptive because of the weather. Not a great play in week 2

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Tavaris Jackson

He wasn't horrible last week but he didn't make alot of plays either

RB

Chester Taylor

Out this week...I hope you traded him in the preseason while his value was high

RB

Adrian Peterson

We love the kid...he should have a good game this weekend

WR

Bobby Wade

Preseason be damned, Wade was nearly non-existant last week but should reappear in week 2

WR

Troy Williamson

Mediocrity is the name of his game

TE

Jim Kleinsasser

Expect very little and you won't be dissapointed

DEF/ST

Vikings

Last week was a bit of an abberation. They are playing a good passing tea this week and should come back to Earth

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Jon Kitna

Last season Minnesota was the worst pass D in the league. I see a minimum of 2 TDs this week

RB

Tatum Bell

Might be his last week as the starter

RB

Kevin Jones

Still out

WR

Roy Williams

What a matchup for Roy. He should go off after a quiet week 1

WR

Calvin Johnson

The rook has game. Martz will continue to get him the rock.

WR

Mike Furrey

Marginal play

WR

Sean McDonald

Same as Furrey

TE

Dan Campbell

TEs in this offense don't typically produce

DEF/ST

Lions

Gave up 300+ to McCown last week. That's not a good sign even though Minnesota has a below average Offense

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Tony Romo

He was off the charts last week. He should be good for a couple of strikes against Miami.

RB

Julius Jones

RBBC nightmare

RB

Marion Barber III

Looks like he may be the best fantasy play of the two

WR

Terrell Owens

Always good for a TD and 75+

WR

Terry Glenn

Out for a few weeks

WR

Patrick Crayton

Will he step up with Glenn out?

WR

Sam Hurd

Splitting reps with Crayton, could have some limited value here

TE

Jason Witten

Looks like the #2 option in the passing game

DEF/ST

Cowboys

They were terrible last week but they are playing against a bad offensive team in week 2

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Trent Green

Not much upside here

RB

Ronnie Brown

He just looks like he's turning into a bust

RB

Jesse Chatman

I'm not sure that Chatman is the answer but the coaching staff is already agitated with Ronnie Brown

WR

Chris Chambers

Normally I'd say he wouldn't do well against the Dallas D but Plaxico Burress had 3 TDs last week so I'm second guessing this one

WR

Marty Booker

Only play him if you're desperate for a starter

WR

Ted Ginn, Jr

Doesn't look ready to be a full time guy for now

TE

David Martin

You can really do better than Martin for a TE

DEF/ST

Dolphins

Bad matchup

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Chad Pennington

Rumors are that he's out for week #2

QB

Kellen Clemens

I actually feel bad for him...by the way, I'm shocked TJ Houshmanzadeh can still breathe

RB

Thomas Jones

50+ would be a success here

WR

Laveranues Coles

McAllister will blanket him all day

WR

Jerricho Cotchery

Better matchup than with Coles but only marginally

TE

Chris Baker

It's all bad when your player is going against the Ravens D

DEF/ST

Jets

If they can force 6 turnovers against the Ravens this week, Billick might get fired on the spot

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Steve McNair

Hopefully for Baltimore he'll sit this one out and learn to hold onto the ball

QB

Kyle Boller

Has put up some nice stats (albeit inconsistently) in the past

RB

Willis McGahee

Looked pretty decent last week but losing Ogden is a big time loss

WR

Derrick Mason

Consistently good for 50-60 yards and no TDs

WR

Mark Clayton

Didn't even appear on the stat line last week

WR

Demetrius Williams

Arguably the best fantasy play of the 3 WRs

TE

Todd Heap

Lost a TD in the last seconds of the game (from a terrible call by the refs)

DEF/ST

Ravens

Should go off against the Jets

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Damon Huard

Not a good QB against a great defense who lost in Week 1.

RB

Larry Johnson

LJ had a disappointing week last week, and now he will face a better defense.

WR

Sammie Parker

You shouldn't have a KC receiver on your team.

WR

Eddie Kennison

Normally a spotty producer anyway, and this week won't be a winner.

WR

Dwayne Bowe

Best receiving option this week for KC but still not a good start

TE

Tony Gonzalez

Huard will probably stay upright long enough to see Gonzalez and not much else.

DEF/ST

Chiefs

A good unit for Grossman to find his rhythm.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Rex Grossman

Should have a lot of chances, with the CHI defense blowing the Cheifs away.

RB

Cedric Benson

Not a reliable producer.

WR

Muhsin Muhammed

Rex will get back in touch with his receivers this week.

WR

Bernard Berrian

Did OK last week, this week should be better.

TE

Desmond Clark

Will get looks.

DEF/ST

Bears

Looks like a good shutout opportunity.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Josh McCown

Don't expect a repeat of last week's performance - Dre' Bly went from Detroit to Denver, who already had a better defense.

RB

Lamont Jordan

He'll be the top fantasy performer this week for Oakland.

WR

Jerry Porter

Don't expect too many passing yards for Oakland.

WR

Ronald Curry

Great performance last week against a weaker defense will not be repeated here.

TE

Zach Miller

Don't start him.

DEF/ST

Raiders

At Denver against a QB with a strong arm and a good rushing attack.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Jay Cutler

If the Raiders allow anything close to last week's production by Detroit, he could be a real factor in fantasy games.

RB

Travis Henry

He'll have a good home opener in Denver.

WR

Javon Walker

Good odds for a 100+ yard day.

WR

Brandon Marshall

If Oakland tries to hard to cover Walker, he'll get chances to score.

TE

Tony Scheffler

Lucifer (Shanahan) knows how to use tight ends.

DEF/ST

Broncos

Should run all over Oakland's offense.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Philip Rivers

Expect a similar performance to what he did against the Bears.

RB

LaDanian Tomlinson

LT will always have a high rating, because he's the best player in the NFL.

WR

Vincent Jackson

May have similar chances to Laveranues Coles last week against New England.

WR

Eric Parker

Not a good fantasy option yet.

TE

Antonio Gates

Gates is always in the game plan.

DEF/ST

Chargers

Tough day against Brady and Moss.  Still could get some sacks, though.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Tom Brady

SD has a great D, but Brady knows how to throw and the Pats probably have all the Charger's signals anyway.

RB

Laurence Maroney

Won't be one of Maroney's best days.

WR

Randy Moss

SD will do better against Moss than the Jets, but with Brady threading the ball, he'll have a good day.

WR

Donte Stallworth

Moss will draw a lot of attention away from him.

TE

Benjamin Watson

Brady threw to Watson constantly last year, and he still remembers how.

DEF/ST

Patriots

No Seymour or Harrison agianst LT means a medium rating.

at

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Jason Campbell

Brett Favre did nothing against Philly, and he's a Hall of Famer.  Campbell won't do any better.

RB

Clinton Portis

Would be higher if he wasn't splitting carries.

RB

Ladell Betts

Definitely second tier compared to Portis for last week's production.

WR

Santana Moss

He has spotty numbers, and they won't be high this week.

WR

Antwaan Randle El

Last week's yardage was a fluke because of a Hail Mary deflection he caught for a meaningless long gain as time ran out.

TE

Chris Cooley

Campbell's best option, and a generally versatile guy.

DEF/ST

Redskins

Philly doesn't have impressive receivers and can't pound the ball.

Player

Rating

Rationale

QB

Donovan McNabb

He'll have a better week at home.

RB

Brian Westbrook

Should have solid fantasy value this week.

WR

Reggie Brown

McNabb has a lot of mediocre targets to spread yards around.

WR

Kevin Curtis

See above comment.

TE

LJ Smith

If Philly is to win, he will be a contributor.

DEF/ST

Eagles

Washington hasn't been impressive on offense for years.

Dominate Your League - "Why give the other owners a chance to win?"
