Game Recap

Game Recap: Davenport fills in, steps up; Steelers prevail, stay on atop AFC North

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

The major fantasy impact of this game was Willie Parker's season ending broken leg that occurred after his first carry. For those who were counting on him this week in the playoffs, he might have caused you to lose - but honestly, he hasn't been a TD machine ever in his career, and he isn't likely to become one. Najeh Davenport stepped up big in Parker's absence, and if your league is still playing in Week 17, he is a solid pickup. Nate Washington had a couple TD catches, Santonio Holmes had 133 yards receiving, and Ben Roethlisberger had a great game (261 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT). On the St. Louis side, not much happened except it is clear that a healthy Steven Jackson is a great player to have.

Game Recap: Cowboys match team record with 13th win; T.O. hurts ankle

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Once again, the major news from this game is an injury to a key fantasy player - this time, Terrell Owens. After catching his 15th TD of the season, Owens went down with a high ankle sprain and is definitely out for Week 17. Romo had a below average day with 257 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. Most of the production went to Marion Barber, who rushed for 110 yards and a TD along with 16 receiving yards. Jason Witten had only 53 yards and no TD. On the Carolina side, the QB finally(!) knows how to throw Steve Smith the ball, who showed his skills with 137 yards and a TD. Matt Moore is the best option for Carolina right now, but he shouldn't be on your roster. Other than Steve Smith and maybe the running backs, nobody should.

Game Recap: Bengals stun Browns, clinch AFC North for Steelers

Fantasy Impact

Derek Anderson threw 4 INT's to go along with his 2 TD's and 251 yards, in a game that I predict will mirror much of his NFL future. I do not expect Anderson to continue his great start, because defenses have now figured him out to the point that his last 4 games he has thrown for a 52.8% completion rate, 219 yards per game, 6 TD's and 7 INT's with an average QB rating of 65.4. Braylon Edwards remains a good play, though - he caught both of Anderson's TD passes. Kellen Winslow had 73 receiving yards, and Jamal Lewis rushed 21 times for 92 yards. On the Cincinnati side, T.J. Houshmandzadeh had 25 receiving yards and a TD, Chad Johnson did very little (44 yards), and Carson Palmer had awful stats (115 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT). Kenny Watson had 150 total yards along with a TD. His performance this season is the harbinger of doom for Rudi Johnson, who is now the old man on the totem pole.

Game Recap: Bears shock Packers, clinch NFC home field for Cowboys

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

This game was a fantasy disaster, unless for some reason you started the Bears defense, which no sane person would have done. Ryan Grant had 100 rushing yards and Green Bay's lone TD, and aside from him, none of the Packers scored more than about 4 points in the standard scoring format. Chicago's Adrian Peterson had a huge game with 118 total yards and a TD. The only other offensive TD came on a pass from Kyle Orton to Desmond Clark, who had only 13 receiving yards. The other 2 TD's were scored by the defense/special teams, one on a blocked punt and the other on a Brian Urlacher 85 yard INT return.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Colts offense gets back in gear in blowout of Texans

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Two things are clear from this game - Peyton Manning (311 yards, 3 TD's, 0 INT) is the man, and Reggie Wayne (143 receiving yards, 1 TD) is the man. The Texans are still pretenders when it comes to AFC South superiority, although they might be good enough to win the NFC West. Kenton Keith had 68 total yards, and Joseph Addai made the most of his 26 yards by scoring a TD. Clifton Dawson also rushed for an Indy TD, but he's not fantasy worthy. Sage Rosenfels did alright (233 yards, 2 TD's, 3 INT's), although he didn't get the second TD until garbage time. Andre Johnson (74 yards, 1 TD) and Kevin Walter (69 yards, 1 TD) both had solid performances.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Lions hold off Chiefs, will avoid negative record

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Despite the loss, statistically KC had a great game. Damon Huard was great with 305 passing yards, 2 TD, and 0 INT. Tony Gonzalez had 137 receiving yards, and Dwayne Bowe had 97 yards with a TD. Kolby Smith did well with 105 total yards, and by reciting all these numbers, I still can't believe they lost the game. The turnover battle was equal with one INT by each team, so who would've thought? Anyway, for the Lions, Jon Kitna had an awful day with 115 passing yards, 0 TD, and 1 INT. Calvin Johnson was the leading receiver with only 47 yards, and T.J. Duckett rushed for 102 yards and a TD. Yes, the stats really were that one-sided; KC outgained Detroit 407 yards to 236.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Jacobs carries Giants past Bills, back into playoffs

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

The Giants are starting to become a great road team, although this win can't be attributed to Eli Manning (111 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT) in any way. Brandon Jacobs was the man of the hour, with 151 total yards and 2 TD's. Coming off the bench, Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 151 more yards with a TD, and Amani Toomer had all but 12 of Manning's passing yards for a total of 99 receiving yards. For Buffalo, Marshawn Lynch had 112 yards and a TD, and pretty much everyone else sucked except possibly Lee Evans, whose TD rescued his 43 yard performance. Trent Edwards completed only 9 passes for 161 yards, and had 2 TD's and 3 INT's.

Game Recap: Jaguars obliterate Raiders to wrap up No. 5 seed in AFC

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

JaMarcus Russell sucked, and the only Oakland player to do much was Domenic Rhodes, with 124 total yards. Zach Miller had Oakland's only TD, on 27 yards receiving. The Jaguars came out with video game stats, which wasn't very surprising. David Garrard was his usual consistent self, with 199 yards, 2 TD's, and 1 INT, and he also rushed for 19 yards and a TD. Reggie Williams, Matt Jones, Richard Angulo, and Greg Jones all had receiving TD's. Maurice Jones-Drew had 140 total yards and a TD, and Fred Taylor rushed for 111 yards and a TD in his 5th straight game with 100+ yards.

Game Recap: McNabb sharp as Eagles put Saints on brink of elimination

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Was this Donovan McNabb's audition for another team for next year? Maybe so. He looked like a top caliber QB as he picked apart the New Orleans pathetic pass D. Kevin Curtis ended with 2 TDs on the day with one receiving and another on a McNabb fumble recovery. Aaron Stecker, yes...Aaron Stecker continued to carry fantasy teams to the championship with another 2 TD performance. Marques Colston was injured in the game and will likely miss week 17.

Game Recap: Rackers ties it, wins it in OT as Cards hope to finish .500

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

ina very close game, the Cards pulled out an OT victory with a throwback Kurt Warner performance with 350+ and 3 TDs. Anquan Boldin was the recipient of the TD action, pulling in 2 TD passes and 162. For Atlanta, Chris Redman had a solid performance and fed Roddy White early and often. White ended with 12 receptions for 144 yards and is looking like a budding NFL star. Laurent Robinson also snuck in to the stat line with 7 receptions for 114 and a TD. maybe the Falcons have finally found a receiver to lineup opposite of White. On that note, looks like Michael Jenkins has squandered his opportunity as a starter in the NFL.

Game Recap: Hill improves to 3-0 as starter with win over resting Bucs

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Prepare for the 2nd coming of Tom Brady...SHAUN HILL...just kidding. You can't take away what Hill has done over the last 3 games and that is win games. ith the Niners keeping the ball in Frank Gore's hands 20+ times a game, they will continue to contend in games. Jeff Garcia continues to be dinged up and will likely sit out the regular season finale. Look for the Bucs to rest several starters in week 17, including Ernest Graham.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Seahawks seal third seed in NFC with dissection of Ravens

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

One thing to note, wearing a Baltimore Ravens is like kryptonite to a QB. Regardless of their previous greatness (in college or NFL), Baltimore QBs struggle mightily weak in and wek out (yes that was intentional). Willis McGahee was injured in the game with broken ribs and will sit out the last game of the season. Mike Anderson and Musa Smith will likely split carries in his absence. For the Hawks, Hasselbeck was solid but unspectacular and will lilely rest in the final week of play with Seattle being locked into the #3 seed. Shaun Alexander looked good against a decent run D and should be fresh for the playoff run. Seattle looks like a sleeper candidate for the NFC as they will be rested and healthy.

Game Recap: Patriots sail past Dolphins to become first 15-0 team ever

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

In a true David versus Goliath matchup, Miami was outmatched in almost every way in the game. Tom Brady was good in throwing 3 TDs (again) but also threw 2 INTs. Two of the TD passes were to Randy Moss, who is nearing Jerry Rice's single season TD mark for WRs. Noteworthy is Donte Stallworth's dissapearance and Jabar Gaffney coming to life. Look for Gaffney to play a significant role in the finale as well. Laurence Maroney could have easily been a top back this year if the Pats were interested in running the ball. The Dolphins would be best off if they cut the entire roster and started with a clean slate (I'm partially joking)

Game Recap: Defense carries Tennessee; playoff hopes intact

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

In the offensive crap-fest that was the Titans-Jets game, only a few stodd out. Lendale "Butterball" White ran well and again eclipsed 100 yards on the ground and Jerricho Cotcherry had 8 grabs for 152 and a TD. Imagine what he could do with a real QB at the helm. Mediocrity was pretty much the case for the other players on the two teams.

Game Recap: 'Skins inch closer to playoffs with convincing win over Vikes

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

In a game with heavy playoff implications, the Vikings showed their youth and inconsistency with a death-blow loss to the Redskins. Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor were unable to get things going throught the day and Tavaris Jackson actually was the team's leading rusher and added 2 TDs on the ground. For Washington, Clinton Portis did it all. He ended with 5 catches for 48, 20 rushes for 76 and TD and a TD pass as well. Todd Collins looks like a solid play in week 17 and has shown good consistency in his limited time at QB.

Game Recap

Game Recap: L.T. becomes league rushing leader, Chargers jolt Broncos

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Ever since insertign Antonio Cromartie into the starting lineup, the Chargers D has been playing at a very high level. Combine that with a healthy team and the Chargers are sneaking into the playoffs with no expectations. They could surprise some people. Antonio Gates has been minimally active the last few weeks due to not being needed ina few blowout victories. LT has clearly been carrying the load. Jay Cutler has not looked like he is progressing as an NFL QB and should not be counted on for fantasy squads next season. Also, what once was a can't miss offensive line is now not performing consistently and the RBs on Denver are showing the effects. They should no longer be treated as a RB factory. Has the loss of Gary Kubiak fianlly set in with his expertise of the zone blocking scheme? Maybe so.
