Game Recap

Game Recap: Broncos rely on Young, revived defense to bag rare win in K.C.

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

There are two players of note for Denver - the first clearly being Selvin Young, who rushed for 109 yards and a TD. He is definitely benefiting from the absence of Travis Henry, and he is now a fantasy starter. The other is Brandon Marshall, who with 85 receiving yards this week is establishing himself as the go-to guy with Javon Walker out. Jay Cutler had a decent game (192 yards/1 TD/1 INT), but his fantasy value is not great. The KC quarterback situation is suddenly very muddled, with Huard possibly getting benched in favor of Brodie Croyle soon. Neither is worth having, though Dwayne Bowe certainly is. Priest Holmes is a serviceable third option as long as LJ is injured, but he's been away too long to expect big numbers.

Game Recap: Falcons edge Panthers on last-minute touchdown pass

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

It's official - the Carolina offense is untouchable. The only score of the game was made by the defense, and they can't keep a QB healthy long enough to get Steve Smith the ball. Even Smith didn't play well, losing a fumble and recording only 5 catches for 61 yards. Joey Harrington actually played decent, with 192 yards and a TD, but I wouldn't grab him unless your QB is Steve McNair. Warrick Dunn had another very solid showing with 89 yards and a TD, and is a key part of their recent success. Look for him to keep getting carries as a result. Although he wasn't completely healthy, Alge Crumpler came up with a TD and he should be started in the future.

Game Recap: Winless Dolphins hold ball but can't hold lead, fall to Bills

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

The Bills' recent success should be tempered considering the quality of competition - they've been playing the Jets and Dolphins. Still, Marshawn Lynch found the end zone again while rushing for 61 yards, though keep a close eye on his ankle injury. It doesn't seem serious enough to drop him from your roster, at least for now. Lee Evans was once again the leading receiver for Buffalo with 65 yards. The only Miami player worth mentioning is Jesse Chatman, who rushed for 124 yards and looked every bit the part of a fantasy starter. If only he played on a better team...

Game Recap

Game Recap: McNabb, Westbrook keep Eagles relevant with comeback win

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Brian Westbrook had 183 total yards and 3 TD's, and at the game's end he once again showed his open field prowess by shredding the Redskins secondary. McNabb had a good day for once, with 4 TD's (2 to Westbrook) on 251 yards. Reggie Brown and LJ Smith caught McNabb's other two TD's, and Smith is improving to the point where he can be a good spot start in a favorable matchup. Jason Campbell had a great game with 3 TD's and 215 yards, and James Thrash stepped up to catch 2 of those TD's in Santana Moss's absence. Don't expect that performance again. However, Clinton Portis has been playing out of his mind, with 137 yards this week for a second straight big performance.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Steelers hold off Browns in back-and-forth AFC North battle

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Against a solid defense, Derek Anderson had a very solid game with 3 TD's (though only 123 yards). Jamal Lewis had another sub-40 yard performance, though this time he had no TD's to show for it. Braylon Edwards scored again (though he had only 16 yards and 1 catch), as did Kellen Winslow. One player to watch for Cleveland is Joshua Cribbs, who had 223 total return yards and a TD. In leagues that give points for return yardage, he is worth picking up. On the Steelers side, Roethlisberger was responsible for all 3 TD's (2 passing, 1 rushing) and Willie Parker had another 100 yard, zero TD performance. Hines Ward came up big with 80 yards and a TD, and Heath Miller had 71 and a TD. Both players are every-week starters.

Game Recap: Jaguars back on track after convincing win over Titans

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

This time it was the Jaguars rushing game that came on strong, in a reversal of fortunes from that Week 1 debacle. Fred Taylor and MJD both scored TDs on the Titans. LenDale White injured his knee, so the Titans are going to have to find someone to take some of the load off of The Hamburgler. Chris Henry will get the bulk of the carries in relief if he isn’t suspended first, while Chris Brown isn’t any closer to getting over a sprained ankle. It’s an ugly RB situation in Tennessee right now.

Game Recap: Favre hits 60K, leads 8-1 Packers past Vikes; Peterson hurts knee

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

The big news of course is Adrian Peterson’s knee injury which is likely to keep him out for a few weeks, and if the Vikes are smart, the remainder of the year. This opens to door for Chester Taylor to come in a take the load on his shoulders. Taylor should have RB2 numbers while AP heals. Ryan Grant ran roughshod over the usually stout run defense of Minnesota. It looks like Grant is a viable starter for the rest of the year considering he ran for over 100 yards on the Vikings.

Game Recap: Rams surprise Saints, finally win first game

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Mark Bulger stepped it up finally and has two consecutive productive fantasy games in a row. He looks healthy and is going to continue to have to air the ball out as the Rams will be playing from behind often for the rest of the year. Isaac Bruce hurt his hamstring, the same one that had him miss 2 games earlier this year. Drew Bennett will step up into the WR2 spot in St. Louis and should get some decent red zone chances with his 6’-5” frame.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Graham's seven boots power Bengals' sweep of Ravens

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Steve McNair has probably played his last game as a Raven, but that just means that Kyle Boller steps in to try and not screw things up. With the defense hurting, Boller will be asked to make some plays that he probably can’t make, but he did show a good connection with Mark Clayton that showed some signs of promise. Cincinnati couldn’t muster one TD, relying on Shayne Graham’s leg to get them all of their 21 points. This ineptness at the scoring end of the field is concerning for the Bengals considering Baltimore’s top 3 CBs were out of the game. Rudi Johnson was especially ineffective, maybe we’ll see some more Kenny Watson?

Game Recap

Game Recap: Cowboys put stranglehold on NFC East with season sweep of Giants

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Tony Romo did his best Brady Jr. impersonation and TO reaped the benfits once again. The Giants brought the blitz, keeping Witten in to block most downs. Don't expect this to be an every week thing for Jason Witten however. The RBBC showed why it is universally reviled, the usual 50-50 ratio (or somehwere near it) was in place for Julius Jones and MB3, meaning neither had much production. Brandon Jacobs looks good, and his numbers should continue to improve. Jeremy Shockey was a man on fire, and as the G-men make their push for the playoffs, Shock is going to be a focus of this offense.

Game Recap: Grossman replaces injured Griese, lifts Bears over Raiders

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Hear that...those are the cries of Oakland fans for Jamarcus Russell. Josh McCown looked pathetic and no player for the Raiders was noteworthy except for mini-Huggy. Bernanrd Berrian played a nice game and grabbed the winning TD from replacement QB Rex Grossman when Brian Griese went down with an injury. Don't be fooled by Cedric Benson's fantasy stats, he ran 29 times for 76 yards with a TD...that's 2.6 yards per carry folks against a very weak run defense.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Warner, fierce defense lead Cards past bumbling Lions

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Don't look now but the Lions went from looking like they had turned the corner to showing that they still have alot of growing up to do. The run game for Detroit would have actually been better if it were non-existant...they ended up with a total of -18 yards rushing on the game. So much for Martz committing to the run. For Arizona, Warner exploited the weak pass D for Detroit and threw for 3 TDs. Leonard Pope came up big with 2 receiving TDs but don't expect that kind of performance from LP again.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Manning's fourth-quarter rally comes up short against San Diego

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

Couple of things from this game. Peyton Manning looked as bad as he has ever looked in throwing 6 INTs. It appears that the Colts O-line (and team in general) has been decimated b y injuries and they are starting to catch up with them in making them mortal. The game also witnessed Adam Vinaterri missing two field goals, including one that would have put the Colts on top with less than 2 minutes to go. That may never happen again. Despite all of this, the Chargers nearly lost the game and really can't feel good about the win. Philip Rivers looked like he had no leadership abilities in nearly bumbling the game away. LT was good but the Chargers abandoned the run at bad times in the game. Until the Chargers can sort out River's problems the pass game is a risky fantasy play.

Game Recap

Game Recap: Hasselbeck, Seahawks defense thrive in thrashing of punchless 49ers

Game Center: Click here

Fantasy Impact

In case you ever need a DEF/ST to play each week, take a look at whomever is playing the 49ers. They are just terrible and their o-line is soft. Throw in a regressing Alex Smith and you have a bad situation. The only player of any value at this point is Frank Gore, but the 49ers are getting behind in games and Gore is not getting the carries he should. For the Seahawks, Hasselbeck passed at will and DJ Hackett was his primary target with Branch out for another game. Maurice Morris filled in nicely for Shaun Alexander with 103 total yards and a TD. Alexander and Branch should be back for the next game.
