Game Recap: Lions handle Bears, improve to 5-2 for first time since 2000 Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Don't look now but the Lions are a 5-2 team. Now that Kevin Jones is back and healthy, he looked like a star once again this weekend with 100+ yards and a TD. It is noteable that no other player for Detroit had more than 2 carries in the game. Kitna and Roy Williams both had good games but did not get any action in the TD department. They were both statistically better than Brian Griese, who struggled in the game by throwing 4 INTs, including 3 INTs in the endzone. Just a terrible performance. As always, Cedric Benson looked innefective yet Chicago did nothing about playing anybody else. Maybe Benson is secretly married to Lovie Smith's daughter. I must have missed that story. Greg Olsen is legit in case you haven't seen him. A true mismatch on the field every week. The only question is can Griese consistently get him the ball. |

Game Recap: Colts run away from Panthers; Peyton surpasses Unitas Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
In the highly anticipated macthup between Peyton Manning and the Vinnie Testaverde/David Carr juggernaught, the colts destroyed the Panthers with Peyton Manning having a poor game (for him) but still ended up with 2 TDs and 255 yards passing. The game superstar was Joseph Addai who ended with 3 TDs with honorable mention to Reggie Wayne who rolled up 168 and a TD romp. The only fantasy surprise in the game for Carolina was Jeff King who grabbed 10 passes for 82 yards. It's official, start the Steve Smith "is going to jump off a bridge" watch. I feel terrible for the guy. At least we told you to trade him 5 weeks ago while he still had some value. |

Game Recap: Improving Browns rally, drop Rams to 0-8 start Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Yes, Cleveland is over .500...I had to check 6 times before I posted this just because I thought I've lost my mind. Seriously though, Cleveland has been a completely different team under Derek Anderson and shows no signs of slowing down. Braylon Edwards and KWII looks to be every week starters despite KWII not having a great game. Jamal Lewis is still a fluke player that has one good game and then dissapears for the next 4 weeks. For STL, Bulger was not terrible, which is about the best compliment I can give him after his week 7 debacle. Torry Holt had an expected good game against a terrible pass D and Steven Jackson looked sharp until he left the game in the second quarter with back spasms. He also indicated in the post game conference that his groin was not fully healthy. Beware of the nagging injury until he is back to 100%. |

Game Recap: Defense, RB White carry Titans over Raiders in Young's return Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Vince Young continued his slide into fantasy irrelevancy this week, with 42 passing yards and 11 rushing yards. However, the Titans are not entirely without fantasy starters - LenDale White rumbled for 133 yards, and he is looking like legitimate fantasy threat. If VY can get the Titans in the redzone a bit more often, White will have scoring chances and the heft to break across the goal line. Chris Henry scored the only TD, but he will not be getting the number of carries that White will every week. From the Oakland side, there really weren't any fantasy performances of note, aside from Janikowski kicking a 43 yard FG and 2 of at least 50 yards. |

Game Recap: Eagles' McNabb helps Reid best old pal Childress Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
McNabb had a good day for yardage, if not TD's with a 333 yard, 1 TD performance. Westbrook got it done once again on the ground and through the air, with 46 yards and a TD in both categories. He is clearly the most consistent fantasy player for the Eagles. Reggie Brown looked great with 8 catches for 105 yards, but the big play threat is still Kevin Curtis, who averaged over 25 yards per reception. With Tarvaris Jackson out (broken finger), Kelly Holcomb decided to join him on the sideline with a neck injury. Neither of them are likely to play next week, and I would not consider picking up Brooks Bollinger. You shouldn't have a Vikings QB or receiver on your roster, anyway. Adrian Peterson rushed for 70 yards on 20 carries, which is impressive considering Minnesota's passing ineptitude. |

Game Recap: Gray's first NFL start a success as Jags withstand Bucs' rally Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
The Jags won, but don't pick up Quinn Gray. It took him all 4 quarters to get 100 passing yards, and there won't be much better stats until Garrard returns. With Tampa focusing entirely on the run, Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew had trouble getting fantasy points, with 68 and 48 yards, respectively. However, do not let them go if you want to make a playoff run, because Garrard will get back in time to make that happen. Jeff Garcia ended his streak of no interceptions with 3 of them this week, but don't be afraid to start him, because Jacksonvile's defense is very good and they are used to playing against Peyton Manning. For the Tampa RB's, because Pittmann will be returning in a few weeks and neither of them look amazing, don't expect them to get a lot of looks later on. |

Game Recap: Bills wake up in time to down Jets in snoozer Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Both of these teams are a fantasy nightmare at QB. Chad Pennington played poorly enough to finally get benched in favor of Kellen Clemens, who really didn't look much better, though he does have more upside. Trent Edwards went down in the 3rd quarter with a wrist injury, and J.P. Losman looked good enough in his return to warrant a quarterback controversy. Neither guy is worth a fantasy spot, on either team. Lee Evans had a great day with 138 receiving yards for the Bills, and Marshawn Lynch had a decent outing with 80 rushing yards. The only fantasy performance of note for the Jets was Thomas Jones with 70 rushing yards. |

Game Recap: Chargers ease city's problems with feel-good rout of Texans Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Antonio Gates had a typical Gates type of day (2 TDs) and nis clearly in a league of his own at TE. The SD defense even got in on the action with 2 scores, and with the offense now on track, are a viable every week starter. Ahman Green was a surprising late scratch which led to another Ron Dayne start. Of course Dayne did next to nothing, so they turned to unknown Adimchinobe Echemandu, who put in a good effort in relief. Green has shown his fragility this season and AE should be picked up for depth at your RB position. Matt Schaub got rocked in the 4th quarter and was replaced by Sage Rosenfels. Keep an eye on Schaub as he could be hurt for a long period of time. |

Game Recap: Brees, Saints back to high-scoring ways in rout of 49ers Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Drew Brees threw for 4 TDs and 3 of them were to Marques Colston (thanks for showing up this season). David Patten had another 100 yard game is is quickly becoming a big part of NO's offense. Alex Smith's return was less than stellar, and Frank Gore continues to be hobbled by his ankle injury. If he doesn't get some healing time in this type of game could very well be the norm for him this season. |

Game Recap: Brady produces five touchdowns as Pats throttle Redskins, go to 8-0 Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
The Patriots continue to run the score up, which means good things for owners of any Patriot. Tom Brady solidified himself as the MVP of the season already. NE's defense even pitched in toward the 52-7 blowout. Maroney got 100 total yards, but was cheated out of 2 goalline TDs by Tom Brady of all people. Washington couldn't get a rythym on offense with Jason Campbell fumbling 3 times. Next week Ben Watson returns for the showdown at Indy. He should get some solid numbers there. |

Game Recap: Favre does it again as his bomb to Jennings lifts the Packers in OT Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Brett Favre and the Packers passing attack was once again the big fantasy winner here. James Jones and Greg Jennings have been consistent TD machines this season, and it doesn't look like they'll slow down anytime soon. GB RB DeShawn Wynn left the game and is now on IR, Ryan Grant stepped in and got GB's first 100 yard rushing game of the season. He should be a decent RB3 from here on out. Selvin Young was effective, and should see the usual Denver RB numbers once Henry gets suspended. |
