Game Recap: Bush turns game for Saints in victory against Falcons Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Drew Brees had his second decent game in a row with throwing for 2 TDs and 1 INT. While no players for New Orleans stood out in particular, Eric Johnson got several looks from Brees in the game and was the leading receiver for New Orleans. For the Falcons, the game went bad soon after it started. Newly appointed starter Byron Leftwich was injured in the game and Joey Harrington was forced into action yet again. Roddy White was a bright spot for Atlanta with 110 yards and a TD. The Atlanta running game continues to struggle without Vick. Jerrious Norwood and Warrick Dunn have struggled all year long. |

Game Recap: Lynch, stout D help Bills foil Ravens, McGahee Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Without Chris McAllister, Lee Evans was a great target for Trent Edwards in the game. Evans looks to be a solid fantasy play with Edwards in at QB. Marshawn Lynch had another quality performance against a tough defense including a TD (only the Ravens 3rd on the season). For the Ravens, The standard guys stepped up, with Derrick Mason being the leading receiver and Willis McGahee leading the rushing attack with his best gaem of the season. |

Game Recap: Defense flattens 49ers as Giants win fifth in row Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
For the Giants, Eli Manning was largely unsuccessful in moving the ball for most of the day but ended up with 2 TDs. That was to be expected against a good pass D. The big star of the game for New York was Brandon Jacobs, running for nearly 6 yards per carry. Trent Dilfer was decent and ended up with TDs but had 2 costly INTs and a fumble that was returned 75 yards for a TD. Frank Gore was able to move the ball well on the ground but did not get in the endzone. Arnaz Battle was the primary target for Dilfer and ended the game with 57 yards and a TD on 6 catches. |

Fantasy Impact |
Clinton Portis has two rushing TDs in this one, but his per carry average has gone down significantly. We might see Ladell Betts getting a few more carries as a change of pace. Anquan Boldin returned from injury and was targeted frequently. He doesn’t look like he’s 100% yet as he wasn’t used on many deep routes, but the fact that Warner targeted him so often was a good sight for Boldin owners. |

Game Recap: Brady torches Dolphins for Patriots-record six touchdown passes Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Ronnie Brown is now out for the season after injuring his knee in this one, grab Jesse Chatman who should be a serviceable replacement as a #3 RB. Tom Brady, where do I start … well chances are if you own him everyone in your league now hates you. Wes Welker was targeted heavily once again and is certainly an every week starter. Maroney came back form injury and had a decent start in the first drive, but New England essentially abandoned the running game after that. Maroney should be firmly placed on your bench until the weather gets worse and the Pats are forced to run the ball. |

Game Recap: L.J. helps Chiefs edge Raiders for ninth straight time Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Larry Johnson had another 100 yard and 1 TD day. He looks to be back in form, just don’t expect much more than this on a weekly basis. Priest Holmes made a surprising return to football and could cause a bit of a mini-controversy. It is well known that LJ doesn’t like to block too much, and hasn’t exactly been complimentary toward his teammates, so if Holmes can show he is able to play at a high level once again he could take some playing time away from LJ. Dwayne Bowe had another good performance and is a solid #3 WR. Dominic Rhodes got 9 carries to Lamont Jordan’s 11 carries, so there is certainly a time share going on in Oakland now. |

Game Recap: RB Watson's career day lifts Bengals over Jets Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Kenny Watson filled in for the injured Rudi Johnson and piled on 3 TDs on the lowly Jets defense. The Kellen Clemens watch is on in New York as the fans clamor for Chad Pennington to get benched. Fantasy fans are scratching their head as he put up his best game of the season with 273 yards and 3 TDs in this shootout. Both WR duos (Johnson/Houshmanzadeh, Coles/Cotchery) had a good day against terrible secondaries. Keep these defenses in mind for future WR matchups. |

Fantasy Impact |
In a closer game than expected, Adrian Peterson only had 12 total carries. Someone please tell me what Minnesota is saving him up for… This in a game where Tavaris Jackson didn’t complete a pass to a WR until the second half, utterly mind boggling. That said, Peterson still put in a TD much to the delight of Purple Jesus owners everywhere. Marion Barber finally got the majority of the carries over Julius Jones (19 to 9). The RBBC is still in effect in Dallas, but Barber is gaining momentum. |

Game Recap: Bears get much-needed win over Eagles on final drive Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
Donovan McNabb played like garbage again - his only good game was against Detroit. Westbrook had 119 total yards, and he remains a definite starter unless injured. Kevin Curtis was once again Philly's leading receiver, but this time with only 62 yards and no scores. In a very good NFC East, that may be all you can expect most weeks. On the other hand, Brian Griese has definitely looked like a starter in the last 2 games (this week: 322 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT). Continue to play him, if you have been. Cedric Benson rushed for only 46 yards - hopefully you dumped this guy after he had a couple good games early in the season, because his upside is not good right now. Devin Hester had no attempts to return kicks, because Philly kicked out of bounds all day. This could be the harbinger of doom for Hester owners, if other teams do the same. |

Game Recap: Burleson breaks it open; Seahawks drop Rams to 0-7 Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
In the worst division in football, neither of these teams have been putting up good fantasy numbers. The bum luck continued this week, with Shaun Alexander doing absolutely nothing once again (47 yards), and Matt Hasselbeck throwing 2 TD's to Will Heller (who?), a backup TE who hadn't played in a single game until filling in for an injured Marcus Pollard this week. Pollard is supposed to be back following Seattle's bye in Week 8. Nate Burleson had a 91 yard kick return TD, and if your league awards points for return yardage, he looks very solid. Josh Brown owners who weren't scared away by the shutout were rewarded this week with 3 PAT's and 4 FG's, including 3 over 40 yards. St. Louis continues to disappoint, with its best fantasy producer this week being Torry Holt with 82 yards receiving. Steven Jackson did not play this week. |

Fantasy Impact |
Heath Miller had a monster game with 2 TD's and 50 receiving yards, and Santonio Holmes had a good showing with 54 yards and a TD. Hines Ward appears to be feeling better, with 7 catches for 78 yards. Roethlisberger had an above-average game with 4 TD's and 2 INT's, and he is having a very solid season with 13 TD's and 5 INT's in 6 games so far. Jay Cutler also did well, with 248 yards, 3 TD's, and 2 INT's. Tony Scheffler could be returning to his 2006 end-of-year form with a TD and 50 yards in his second game of the year. Brandon Marshall is continuing to play like a fantasy starter, though he is not a star. For those brave enough to hold onto Travis Henry before his suspension, he did little to confirm your faith with only 51 yards. |

Game Recap: Colts manhandle Jaguars, avenge last season's blowout Game Center: Click here |
Fantasy Impact |
The biggest surprise from a fantasy perspective was how much Jacksonville tried to pass at the start of the game. They won't be doing that too much - not only did it fail, but David Garrard was injured (ankle) on a sack before halftime. Don't bother looking at his backup, Quinn Gray, as he threw the team's first INT on his first attempt. It wouldn't get much better for him, although it did force the Jags to lean on Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor, who rushed for 52 yards and a TD and 55 yards, respectively. If Garrard goes down for a few games, give a big downgrade to all the Jaguars' offensive players. Indy performed as expected, with Harrison looking like he needs another week to get fully healthy. If you picked up Kenton Keith, hold onto him, because he had 15 rushes and 2 receptions. |
