TOP FREE AGENT PICKUPS

Quarterback

Player

Rationale

Tavaris Jackson
Minnesota Vikings

Yes...I know, his season high in passing yards is 204 but he is playing well lately, chips in with rushing yards each week, and has a cupcake matchup against the 49ers this weekend. Sneakly, but a decent play.

Chris Redman
Atlanta Falcons

Redman replaced an ineffective Joey Harrington (I guess we didn't really have to put ineffective there, it's kind of assumed now isn't it?) and almost led the Falcons back to a come from behind victory. He threw two TDs in the fourth quarter to Roddy White and Michael Jenkins, and even got Alge Crumpler some catches. Atlanta plays NO this week (giving up 257 yards per game in the air), so Redman could be a solid start in Week 14.

Running Back

Player

Rationale

Adrian N. Peterson
Chicago Bears

Not only was he the top rusher for the Bears, he also contributed to the passing game as the leader receiver as well. With AP2, you will get a nice combo yardage each week.

Fred Jackson
Buffalo Bills

Fred did a nice job filling in for Lynch and Thomas, running hard as well as leading the team in receiving yards. His 151 total yards was even more impressive going against an inspired Washington D. He might not have much value after this weekend's game against the Dolphins as Lynch's ankle is healing well, but still worthy of a spot against a deplorable Dolphins team.

Wide Receiver

Player

Rationale

Bryant Johnson
Arizona Cardinals

With Anquan Boldin looking like he may miss the remainder of the season and Larry Fitzgerald dinged up, Bryant should see a significant increase in his workload and has appeared on the fantasy radar. Worth grabbing as a 3rd WR or Flex starter.

Mike Furrey
Detroit Lions

Roy Williams is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a knee sprain so someone has to catch the ball (because Mike Martz refuses to run it). Enter Mike Furrey. Sure Calvin Johnson s still there, and Shaun McDonald has been pretty good, but Furrey will be the Welker-like option for Kitna in the coming weeks. Detroit plays a brtual schedule down the strecth and will be behind and throwing often.

Tight End

Player

Rationale

Algernon Crumpler
Atlanta Falcons

Chris Redman threw six passes Crump's way in the fourth quarter alone. If Redman can build on his performance in their game against the Rams, Crumpler may once again be worthy of a roster spot. His 65 yards in Week 13 were his highest total of the year.

Defense/Special Teams

Player

Rationale

Jacksonville Jaguars

Despite the Jags being a pretty poor pass D, you shouldn't be intimidated this weekend because they are facing the Testaverde-led Panthers who are 28th rated in pass offense. Add in the fact that Vinnie is pretty much a statue at this piont in his career and you have a recipe for fantasy success.
