TOP FREE AGENT PICKUPS

Quarterback

Player

Rationale

Jason Campbell
Washington Redskins

Two 300 yards games should indicate to you that Jason Campbell has really turned a corner in his career. Look for more good performances in the coming weeks.

A.J. Feeley
Philadelphia Eagles

Feeley (the last boneheaded interception notwithstanding) outplayed Brady for most of the night last Sunday, throwing for 345 yards and 3 TDs. He looked in control and confident most of the game and could be a solid fill-in if you are hurting at QB. He faces a Seattle team this week that is giving up tons of yardage in the air.

Running Back

Player

Rationale

Adrian Peterson
Chicago Bears

Although Cedric Benson had been running ok for a few weeks now, Adrian Peterson has been waiting in the wings. The injury to Benson gives AP2 the opportunity to show what he has to offer.

Derrick Ward
New York Giants

Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is almost certainly out for their matchup with Chicago leaving the starting job open once again. Ward looks ready to get the start, while splitting some of the carries with Ruben Droughns along the way. Before Ward went out in Week 7 he was averaging 4.4 ypc and 4 catches a game. He will be useful (check the status of his health this weekend first) as a RB3/flex option this week.

Wide Receiver

Player

Rationale

Javon Walker
Denver Broncos

Although he looked invisible this past weekend, Walker should get back in the groove soon and start contributing. If you have the spot available, you might grab him and see how his knee looks. He could be a contributor in the playoffs if he is healthy enough.

Nate Washington
Pittsburgh Steelers

Nasty Nate didn't do much Monday night against Miami while filling in for the injured Santonio Holmes, but then again no one else did anything either. This week he faces a great matchup against the Bengals. Regardless of whether Holmes is healthy or not, Washington is a good pick up for Week 13.

Tight End

Player

Rationale

Vernon Davis
San Francisco 49ers

Davis has been getting more and more involved in the offensive gamplan for SF every week, now it's just a matter of getting a QB he can get comfortable with. He caught 40+ yards and a TD with Dilfer at QB, so if Trent stays in place in SF then Davis could start to put together some consistency.

Defense/Special Teams

Player

Rationale

Denver Broncos

This week, the Broncos have a fantasy D premier matchup with Oakland. The Raiders are giving up ~2.5 sacks per game and turning the ball over at a 2+ per game clip. That sounds like a pretty good recipe for fantasy performance.
